No website, no video, very few photos, no social medias. Most of their songs are instrumental, most of them orchestral, often lasting more than 10 minutes. The post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor has always pursued its career on the fringes of traditional channels. Their creations build to a crescendo, almost hypnotically. The notes are impregnated with steady rhythms that hold you in their grip. At the heart of this chamber rock, a subject of constant fascinations, magic happens.
Mat Ball makes guitars sound, resonate and vibrate in all their essence and power. He knows how to work wood and select the best ones for his instruments, as he knows by heart the results of amplification and reverberation. Playing with his knowledge and sensitivity, the Canadian artist, who is also a member of Big|Brave, offers instrumental and experimental pieces in which every sonic detail is important.
